Ky. district to use immersion model for language learning

How is learning a language like learning to swim? Alaina Post, a middle school teacher for Boone County Schools in Kentucky, says learning a language can be uncomfortable at first -- like jumping into a cold swimming pool -- but if you stay immersed in it, you become more comfortable. District Chairman Ed Massey also notes that it's easier to learn to swim -- and speak a new language -- when children are younger. As such, the school district next year will launch an immersion language learning program in its elementary schools.
