Netflix CEO: Television of the future will be driven by apps

Televisions will be little more than oversized tablet PCs in the years to come, with dozens of applications vying for consumers' attention, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings says. Hastings said at an industry function in Canada that networks will continue to lead a drive to create more specialized content, akin to Major League Baseball's online-video offering, while providers will be forced to continually update their offerings to satisfy consumer demand.
