Boeing has been tapped by ViaSat, which provides broadband services to DIRECTV and DISH Network, to develop a new Ka-band satellite for North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The new satellite will have the ability to "multiply the speeds offered to a level commensurate with high-speed fiber-to-the-node networks," according to Boeing.
