Presidential memo will expedite permits for infrastructure projects

A presidential memorandum has been signed by President Barack Obama that accelerates the permitting process for infrastructure projects. The initiative "will shave months, and even years, off the time it takes to review and approve major infrastructure projects," according to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. "This means that states, local governments, and private developers will be able to start construction sooner, create jobs earlier, and fix our nation’s infrastructure faster."
