Target launches retail tech lab in Silicon Valley

Target debuted its Technology Innovation Center in San Francisco on Friday, an office designed to give the retail chain a hub for developing its mobile and digital shopping services and help it compete with rivals including Amazon. The retailer has hired about 20 people, including developers, designers, data scientists and marketers, to staff the tech lab, which shares space and some employees with digital marketing agency SapientNitro.
