USA, AMC want higher starting point for upfront talks

Both USA Network and AMC Networks are trying to raise the starting point of ad rates above last year's upfront as a way to kick off negotiations for next season. USA is said to be starting with "re-pricing" rates from 9% to 60% over last year's rates because of its fall launch of "Modern Family." Meanwhile, AMC, citing its breakout hit "The Walking Dead," is seeking rate increases for its original series beginning at 30% over last year's upfront.
