Utilities to invest big in making water infrastructure smart

Water delivery in the U.S. is poised for a major upgrade, according to a new forecast from Bloomberg New Energy Finance, which predicts U.S. utilities will spend $2 billion through 2020 on smart-metering technology. However, analysts say smart-meter deployment in the water sector has hurdles to overcome, such as the technical limitations of legacy meters.
