Wash. sewage plant sees more construction delays, cost overruns

The completion of a $1.8 billion wastewater treatment plant in King County, Wash., has been pushed back six months to September 2011. The beleaguered project is also estimated to cost $70 million over previous cost estimates. The project encountered delays due to the deep-bore drilling of a 13-mile tunnel system designed to convey wastewater to the Brightwater plant, and then treated water to Puget Sound.
