Maryland governor extends benefits to same-sex couples

Maryland state employees with same-sex spouses are now entitled to the same health care and other benefits as other married couples, according to Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley, who announced the policy change this week. The policy applies to those in marriages or civil unions performed in states where they are legal.
