Anadarko's "flash crash" rekindles market-structure debate

Anadarko Petroleum's price per share last week plummeted in seconds from $90 to a penny, then back again. "The Anadarko event on Friday proves what the SEC has done since the 'flash crash' has not worked and we're still subject to these mini flash crashes, and potentially a larger, marketwide flash crash," said market-structure expert Joseph Saluzzi. The event has stirred up debate over whether the markets need to be restructured.
