Immune protein may halt or reverse type 1 diabetes

An immune protein called CD52 may be able to stop or reverse type 1 diabetes and other immune disorders, according to research by scientists at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Australia. "In animal models we can prevent and cure type 1 diabetes," said lead researcher Len Harrison. "I am hopeful that these results will be translatable into humans."
