Merit-pay program is created for N.Y. math, science educators

Top math and science teachers in four New York regions can begin applying this summer for a stipend of $60,000 over four years, in exchange for mentoring college students majoring in education and educators with three to five years of teaching experience. The program is expected to be implemented statewide next year.
