Next-gen telemedicine robot drives itself around ICU

In Touch Health's Remote Presence Virtual Independent Telemedicine Assistant is a fourth-generation robot that can drive itself down hospital corridors instead of being controlled by physicians using joysticks. The robot is used in Mercy San Juan Medical Center's neuro-intensive care unit, and Dr. Alan Shatzel says being able to see a patient through videoconferencing helps physicians make the right decision at the right time, which improves care and saves money.
