Pediatric use of CT scans linked to increased cancer risk

Young patients who underwent at least one computer tomography scan before age 20 had a 24% greater risk of developing cancer within 10 years than those who never had the scan, Australian researchers found. While the overall cancer risk linked to CT scan use was low, the study showed that the odds of getting cancer increased 16% for every additional scan. The findings appear in BMJ.
