Research on Alzheimer's disease continues as more are affected

Scientists continue to try to find what exactly causes Alzheimer's disease as the condition takes a growing toll on caregivers and the nation's budget. An upcoming nationwide clinical trial will investigate what goes on in the brains of people with amyloid plaque but not Alzheimer's to see if removal of the plaque can prevent disease onset. In the absence of a cure, early treatment, a healthy diet and intellectual stimulation can delay or lessen symptoms, experts say.
