Rural Calif. providers have access to $1M in HIE grants

The California Health eQuality program is providing grants worth $1 million to help hospitals, clinics and doctors in rural areas across the state adopt health information exchange tools and satisfy the meaningful use mandates. The grants, meant to prevent redundant medical tests and imaging that are ordered because of a lack of data, will allow rural providers to link to any of five in-state HIE networks.
