Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan alter drug reimbursements

Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan are introducing new government drug-reimbursement plans that could dramatically alter the environment for the manufacture and sale of brand-name drugs and generics. Russia's strategy calls for new trade regulations, support for domestic manufacture and expanded drug reimbursements. Ukraine is seeking broader price controls of pharmaceuticals, including generics, and both Ukraine and Kazakhstan are expanding government programs for full or partial reimbursements for certain drugs.
