Thousands rally after suspected hate crime in NYC

The shooting death of Mark Carson, a 32-year-old gay man, in New York City's Greenwich Village early Saturday is being investigated as a hate crime, the latest in a wave of anti-LGBT violence in the city. Carson's death prompted thousands to march Monday night from the city's LGBT center to the site of the shooting. "We are never going to go back to the time when it was unsafe to walk down the street holding the hand of someone you love who may be the same gender," said Christine Quinn, the openly gay speaker of the New York City Council.
