Senator convenes MIT panel to consider waste solutions

A panel of experts from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology convened this week at MIT to discuss long-term solutions for U.S. nuclear waste storage. The experts, hosted by U.S. Sen. Thomas Carper, D-Del., said current technology buys time for further study, and they recommended that research focus on advanced fuel-cycle technologies instead of fuel reprocessing.
