Pediatricians support CDC's antismoking campaign

The AAP, along with other physician groups, expressed support for the CDC's Talk With Your Doctor campaign, which urges doctors to help their patients quit smoking. The smoking habit frequently starts during the teen years and many children are exposed to secondhand smoke, AAP President Thomas K. McInerny said. A doctor's intervention and encouragement boosts the chances that a smoker will succeed in quitting, CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden said.
