Study: U.S. broadband providers added 1.1M subscribers in Q1

The largest ISPs in the U.S. now serve 82.4 million subscribers for broadband services, a net gain of 1.1 million in the first quarter, Leichtman Research Group reports. AT&T and Verizon Communications added 919,000 customers combined for fiber-based broadband services in the quarter, the market research firm estimates. AT&T's U-verse and Verizon's FiOS represent 40% of telecoms' broadband subscribers, up from 32% last year, according to LRG.
