U.S. appeals court affirms deregulation of Monsanto's biotech alfalfa

A federal appellate court affirmed a lower court's decision supporting the deregulation of Monsanto's Roundup Ready alfalfa, adding that the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service was right in determining that the biotech crop is not a plant pest. "The decision is an important reaffirmation of the federal government's process for regulating biotechnology-improved crops," Monsanto counsel Kyle McClain said.
