Advocates: Access to mental-health services hurt by waiting lists, cuts

The climate for individuals seeking mental-health treatment is deteriorating, some advocates in Illinois say. Long waiting lists for evaluations and services are compounded by budget and staffing cuts, while many individuals are afraid to seek services. The elimination of social workers and psychologists in schools also has reduced available resources for treating problems in educational settings, the advocates say.
