Average U.S. family's cost of care higher than cost of groceries

A report by consulting and actuarial firm Milliman found that a typical family of four in the U.S. pays more for medical care than groceries. The annual cost of benefits through an employer-sponsored preferred provider organization increased to $22,030, a 6.3% hike over last year's $20,728. The share paid by employees and families continues to increase as more costs are being passed by employers to employees.
