Bill seeks to limit fiduciary rule for advisers, broker-dealers

A House Financial Services subcommittee has taken up a bill by Rep. Ann Wagner, R-Mo., that would restrict the ability of the Securities and Exchange Commission to adopt a fiduciary rule that applies equally to financial advisers and broker-dealers. The bill would require that the SEC specify harm to retail investors before imposing a fiduciary standard on broker-dealers.
