Molecular imaging: The answer to challenges of personalized care

Molecular imaging presents clear advantages over genetic sequencing for personalized treatment, such as the ability to provide a noninvasive and real-time way to diagnose disease, and it is up to molecular imaging professionals to capitalize on those advantages and "direct the conversation to the need to incorporate more imaging in patient care, not less," writes Robert W. Atcher. There is a need for imagers to show how radiopharmaceuticals improve patient care in order to establish the role of molecular imaging in the field of personalized medicine and ensure reimbursement, Atcher writes.
