Wal-Mart taps into mobile apps to aid in-store shoppers

Wal-Mart has turned to Big Data to create personalized shopping lists for in-store buyers via its mobile application. That is among the steps the retailer is taking to stay on top of the trend of consumers using their smartphones to influence their in-store choices, an executive told CTIA 2013 on Wednesday. Gibu Thomas, Wal-Mart's global mobile chief, predicted in his keynote speech that mobile-influenced buying inside stores would double e-commerce sales by 2016.
