Foreign tourists are a bright spot for Japanese department stores

The Japan Department Stores Association said retail purchases by foreigners were up 2.2 times in February compared with the same month the previous year. Chinese tourists make up roughly 80% of the Japanese stores' foreign customer base. Department store chains in Japan have been trying to cater to Chinese tourists by accepting Ginren, a Chinese debit card.
