India approves a new species of urban vehicle

Lightly powered vehicles known as quadricycles have been approved as a new addition to India's polyglot urban roads. Advocates argue that the four-wheeled cars are a significant upgrade in terms of convenience and safety from the commonly used three-wheeled powered rickshaws. But critics say the improvements are minor and quadricycles with their 200cc single-cylinder gasoline engines will only add to urban air pollution.
