The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, part of HHS, will hold final meetings this week to discuss recommending a limit on daily salt consumption for Americans, though no decision has been made on what any limit would be; any recommendations will be made to the USDA and HHS in June. Representatives of the food industry argue current recommendations to "choose and prepare foods with less salt" are sufficient and say setting specific limits is "unrealistic."
