GSK CEO wants to boost investment in R&D

GlaxoSmithKline CEO Jean-Pierre Garnier said he wants to boost investment in research and development of new drugs in order to put the company in place to become the "Microsoft of the pharmaceuticals industry," a vision first proposed by the head of Glaxo Wellcome. "We have a chance to step away from the rest of our competition if we execute our plan well and we're now in a position to do so," he said.
