A summary on umbilical cord clamping in the May 25 AABB SmartBrief should have emphasized that waiting until the cord stops pulsing before clamping it could allow more stem cells in the cord blood to pass to the newborn. The therapeutic properties of the stem cells could give the infants significant health benefits.
