Airport operators support technology-based worker ID programs

Airport operators are working to establish updated worker identification technology programs, said Colleen Chamberlain, staff vice president for transportation security policy at the American Association of Airport Executives. She noted that new biometric and smart card standards, if adopted, would not be required for airports. Instead, the AAAE will work with the Transportation Security Administration on standards that could be implemented over time. "We have a commitment from the TSA for a voluntary approach," Chamberlain said.
