Salt Lake City International Airport has the highest number of travelers attempting to pass through airport security with firearms in the U.S. Officials have reported seven incidents so far this year; last year, 22 incidents occurred. "This is an alarming pattern," said Steve Marlovits, the airport's chief of police. "It's become a common event." Officials also noted that a traveler who attempts to pass through security with a firearm could face criminal and civil charges, as well as fines up to $10,000.
