Toronto, Ontario, promotes student reading through author visits

Educators in Toronto, Ontario, credit two initiatives for an increased interest in reading among students at a time when other districts are closing school libraries. Students who participate in Just Read It and a writers-in-residence programme read books and submit reviews to a Just Read It website. Students who submit reviews are eligible to win prizes, such as free books or visits from one of three award-winning authors.
