Ariz. wants to charge fee for smokers, obese people on Medicaid

Aiming to make up for a budget shortfall, Arizona is considering a $50 fee for those on Medicaid who smoke or are obese and have no children. "The bottom line is that there's plenty of evidence and studies that show there is an undeniable link between smoking and obesity and health care costs," Arizona Medicaid spokeswoman Monica Coury told The New York Times.
