Study: Umbilical cord stem cells used to produce insulin-making cells

Umbilical cord stem cells can be used to produce insulin that might be capable of treating diabetes, according to new research. Scientists working in the U.S. and U.K. said they were able to direct stem cells to resemble pancreas cells that produce insulin.
