DNA marker found for aggressive endometrial cancer

U.S. researchers said they found a genetic marker for endometrioid endometrial cancer on the ATR gene, which governs cellular responses to DNA damage. Their study found women with the mutation had a risk of recurrence more than four times greater and a risk of death more than three times greater than women who did not have the marker. The mutation was found in about 5% of 248 women with endometrioid endometrial cancer.
