Faculty e-mail search prompts resignation of Harvard dean

Harvard College dean Evelynn Hammonds is stepping down effective July 1 after authorizing the search of staff and faculty e-mail amid the leak of a cheating scandal to the campus newspaper. Hammonds was the first African-American and woman to lead the school. Hammonds will take a job at Harvard's W.E.B. Du Bois Institute, studying the impact of race and gender in scientific fields.
