Sunshine Act has very low thresholds for reporting pharma-doc ties

The thresholds have been set quite low for reporting financial relationships between doctors and drugmakers under the Sunshine Act, Dr. Andrew L. Pecora writes. A line-item breakdown must be provided of any transfer of value exceeding $10 at a time, or $100 for a year. "Think about it: a glass of wine is not a problem; add a crab cake, however, and your name is listed on a national database. The real question is, why were the thresholds for reporting set so low?" Pecora writes.
