Brazil court upholds legality of embryonic stem cell research

Brazil's Supreme Court upheld a 2005 law permitting research on embryonic stem cells and turned down a petition to declare it unconstitutional on grounds that it violates the right to life. The decision holds promise for the discovery of treatments for Parkinson's disease, diabetes and other conditions.
