BASF, Sinopec to begin work on Chinese petrochemical expansion

BASF and Sinopec's petrochemical joint venture in China is set to construct a neopentylglycol facility in Nanjing as well as expand its ethylene oxide capacity. "With expanded production of important basic chemicals including NPG and EO, our new world-scale acrylic acid facility, and our butyl acrylate and SAP [superabsorbent polymers] plants, BASF can further strengthen its production base in the C2 and C3 value chains," said Albert Heuser, president of Greater China and functions for BASF's Asia-Pacific operations.
