Biomarker may ID women at risk of gestational diabetes

Using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay test, Japanese researchers found women with higher levels of soluble protein renin receptor were almost three times as likely to develop gestational diabetes as those who had the lowest levels. The findings in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism suggest the blood test may help identify patients at risk of gestational diabetes earlier, researchers said.
