Computer analysis and visualization environment, or CAVE, technology is typically used to integrate concurrent engineering sessions drawing on Building Information Modeling, says Jay Mezher, director of virtual design and construction for Parsons Brinckerhoff. Design, schedule and cost information are brought together for examination and discussion by all stakeholders in a single session. One key to the process for a number of years now has been 3-D modeling, Mezher says, noting the vast amount of information contained in such models, providing a valuable resource for meeting specified parameters.
