First Wind files proposal to build 186-MW wind farm in Maine

First Wind has filed an application to develop a 62-turbine wind farm in Maine's Somerset and Piscataquis counties. The proposed $400 million Bingham Wind Project would have a generating capacity of 186 megawatts, or enough to supply 75,000 households, said David Fowler, First Wind's director of development for New England. If approved, the wind farm would be New England's biggest.
