H7N9 patients show signs of resistance to oseltamivir

A report in The Lancet said viral samples from three of 14 patients treated for H7N9 in a hospital in Shanghai appear to be resistant to oseltamivir. The three had mutations observed in other instances of oseltamivir resistance. The mutation may have developed in one patient after treatment with the drug, indicating that H7N9 may easily adapt, researchers said.
