Indian students envision quieter airliners with shape memory alloys

Shape memory alloys are at the heart of a design by three aerospace engineering students from India's SRM University to reduce the noise from the exhaust of aircraft jet engines. The students are part of a global competition in London sponsored by Airbus and UNESCO to find new ways to reduce or eliminate aircraft noise.
