Mars set sights on higher cocoa yields

Mars said boosting cocoa yields on the Ivory Coast is the key to meeting global demand for chocolate, which could require an additional million metric tons of cocoa by 2020. Howard-Yana Shapiro, chief agricultural officer, said current yields of 450 kilograms per hectare can be increased to as much as 2,500 kilograms per hectare by 2023.
