"State of the Internet" report points to mobile's growth, potential

Venture capitalist Mary Meeker issued a bullish prediction on the growth of mobile technology in her annual "State of the Internet" report Wednesday, saying that wearable and other portable technologies will usher in a new boom in consumer demand for mobile services and content. In her presentation, Meeker showed that mobile's share of global Internet traffic grew from 2.4% in May 2010 to 15% in May of this year and has a steep upward trend line.
