Mobile gamers overwhelmingly rely on word-of-mouth-marketing to find out about new games, a survey from Applifier has found. More than 40% turn to user reviews for guidance, 36% got a recommendation from a friend or family member, and 25% tried a new game because they saw a friend or family member playing it. The survey also found that one-fifth of gamers use sharing features to post scores or gaming tips. "We encourage developers to focus on improving online word-of-mouth by addressing Sharers via building sharing functionality into mobile games," Applifier said in its report on the survey.
